3/12/21 Critical Reflection: Question 6

Discuss the issues raised in the targeting of national and local audiences by international or global institutions

The first issue is when distributing a film internationally, there will be a small understanding of the film because of the cultural differences. The context of the film can be in a different language or the film can be about a certain culture and some of the audience may not understand the film because they either cannot understand the language of the film or the culture. The second issue is it can costs more to send a film internationally than releasing the film in its own country. For independent studios it is more difficult to release it to a wider audience because they would have to pay more and this can result to them going over the budget of the film. While the larger media conglomerate don't have to worry about going over the budget because they have their own distribution companies to release their films to a wider audience.
